We are providing this information to make you aware of important changes to your winter tax bill. This will only affect property owners in the Port Huron Area School District
In August 2016 voters approved a school bond proposal of 1.74 mils. Normally school millages are collected on your summer taxes. This bond approval occurred after summer tax bills had been issued. However, we were informed by Port Huron Area School District that we need to collect this new bond millage in 2016 despite the fact that it occurred after the issue of summer taxes.
As a result, we are collecting this tax increase on the winter taxes for 2016. Tax bills were sent out last week. On your tax bill you will see a new line item: 74010 SCH DEBT at a rate of 1.74 mills. You can view your tax bill for free on our website at https://accessmygov.com/?uid=1798
. If you need assistance with accessing your tax information online please contact Rob Usakowski at 810-987-9797 ext 123.
We are anticipating that this tax will be collected in future years on the summer tax bill with all other school taxes. This may have implication on your mortgage payment if you use escrow to pay your taxes. Please contact your mortgage company for recommendations on handling this with your escrow.
Kimball Township only collects millages on behalf of the school districts. If you have questions about the bond proposal, it's time frames, or its uses, they can be directed to the Port Huron Area School District at (810)984-3101 or to the office of the Superintendent at email@example.com.
