Fire Department

About the Department

The Kimball Township Fire Department currently serves all 36 square miles of Kimball Township, portions of St Clair Township and portions of Clyde Township with fire and first responder services. Included within Kimball Township's area is the St Clair County International Airport. The Township has on average 25 paid on call fire department staff, 1 full time chief and staffing 16 hours per day. The department responds to over 800 calls per year.
The Township has 2 class A pumpers, 2 combination pumper tanker's, 1 grass fire truck and 2 fire stations. The central station on Allen Road is being expanded and remodeled in 2016. New bays will be added south of the existing building. The bays will meet the depth needed for standard fire trucks, something the current bays do not. The rest of the building will be remodeled including asbestos abatement, electrical upgrades and a much needed remodel of office and meeting room spaces. The general fund has an excess balance that will pay for a portion of the cost and the balance will be funded through a USDA low interest loan.
